Tommy Lee is known for many things ... fierce drumming, partying, piercings, your all-around general mayhem, and oh, yeah, tattoos. We recently caught up with him in London during Mötley Crüe’s “Red, White, and Crue” tour, and he was more than willing to show them to us, photographer Mary McCartney Donald, and, well, everyone else for that matter when he shed his clothes and posed for peta2’s latest “Ink, Not Mink” anti-fur ad.
Lee, whose new reality show, Tommy Lee Goes to College, airs on NBC this fall, joins a long list of celebs who are speaking out against fur, including Gisele Bündchen, Charlize Theron, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dennis Rodman, P!nk, David Cross, and Lee’s ultra-famous, big-hearted ex, Pamela Anderson.
So why has Tommy agreed to bare it all to help animals? Simple. Behind every fur coat, collar, or bit of fur trim is an enormous amount of suffering. Animals who are killed for their fur are the ultimate fashion victims. They are drowned, beaten, gassed, strangled, or electrocuted—many of them are skinned alive.
There’s nothing fashionable or cool about fur. Spread the word and sign up for peta2 E-News to find out what else you can do to help animals. A good way to start would be to let J.Crew know how you feel about fur.
