Well, maybe this news is not so new since Angelina Jolie signed the contract to be the face of St. John on September 15, 2005. But I just read an article in the Seattle Times about the uproar that Jolie and the new improved image of St. John is causing among many crusty old, well-to-do women who adored the old image that St.John promoted.
I must say that as a 30 something year old I always thought St. John was utterly ghastly...but the new 2006 line is absolutely classy - very Audrey Hepburn/Jackie Onassis - classy. I love it, and if I had the funds and the slender image to pull it off, I would be there, at St.John right this minute collecting bags of goodies.
Who better to represent the new face of St.John than someone as gorgeous and accessible as Angelina. She should be a role model for all of us strong women. She really has done it all; model, actress, mother, UN ambassador, pilot, and now the ambassador for St. John. Just the fact that this women has lived her whole life in the limelight of media attention and still remained true to herself is unusual - even unheard of among Hollywood starlits.
Richard Cohen CEO of St.John had this to say;
"Angelina Jolie embodies so many qualities of what St. John represents. She is strong, independant and dynamic. She's a mother, actress and a philanthropist."
Another benefit to the alliance between Jolie and St.John is that they have decided to fund a philanthropic organization to benefit children's causes. How wonderful.

A role model? Really? I have to say the work she's done in the recent years is great. However, she is an ex heroin addict and had an affair with a married man. That was right after she was married to Billy Bob and drank his blood.
I'm not sure if she's someone I want my daughter to emulate. I have to say age is a gift and she has seemed to find herself in her late 30's- there are many other women worth being called a role model that did not need such hard lessons to get there.
